Charlie Parker Celebration

Kansas City arts organization collaborates with Viney to promote its annual jazz festival.

KC Jazz Alive – a non-profit organization that works to make Kansas City the premier destination for jazz and live music – presents an annual two-week jazz festival, known as the Charlie Parker Celebration, to honor of the late saxophonist and his hometown. In 2017, the board of directors decided that it wanted to expand the reach and brand of the festival. The Viney Group was selected to fully rebranded and promote the festival, which included building a more welcoming website while creating and implementing a marketing strategy that would ensure visibility throughout Kansas City and beyond.

Planning for the 4th Annual Charlie Parker Celebration, required lots of coordination with the festival producer, KC Jazz Alive’s volunteer board and many venue owners and artists over a five-month period. It was necessary to make several trips to Kansas City to better understand the city’s culture, its jazz scene and the community at large.
